Good Fishing

South Holston Lake
Last Friday, 10/8/10, Doug and I fished South Holston for 5-6 hours. We had an interesting, beautiful and enjoyable day on the water.

We had a good catch, bringing home 9 nice fish. We also caught and released 4 smaller lake trout.

We had a very welcome but unusual catch in that we caught two nice smallmouth bass. The largest weighed 4 1/2 pounds, and the other weighed 3 1/4 pounds. (We don’t usually catch bass while trolling for lake trout.) IMG_0208
IMG_0215 We also caught our limit of 4 lake trout and we caught 3 catfish.

The lake trout we all good size:
  5 lb 14 oz
  5 lb 9 oz
  4 lb 15 oz
  4 lb 13 oz

The catfish varied in size:
  4 lb 15 oz,
  2 lb 15 oz
  1 lb 9 oz

In total, we had over 38 pounds of fish on the stringer. An average of over 4 pounds per fish! It was a perfect day: beautiful weather, blue sky, no wind, good conversation, exciting fishing and fond memories. What else could you ask for?

Joke of the Day

Hospital regulations  require a wheel chair for patients being discharged. However, while working as a student nurse, she found one elderly gentleman already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase at his feet, who insisted he didn't need my help to leave the hospital.

After a chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him to the elevator.

On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him.

'I don't know,' he said. 'She's still upstairs in the bathroom changing out of her hospital gown.'

Cute joke! I forwarded to my friend at our hospital. She is over the volunteer department, and they are the ones who discharge patients at our place. She said that has come close to happening before! haha
