Getting Around

Two Knees Wanted
It seems my knees continue to worsen. It’s getting more painful to get around. Walking, especially downhill, is difficult. Steps, both going up and down, are getting to bother me a lot. I’m seriously considering getting a knee replacement this winter. If that goes well, then plan for the second knee the following year.

Honda’s U3-X Prototype
Another means for getting around is under development. A good friend sent me the link to the following video a couple of weeks ago. It tells about a device that Honda is developing called the U3-X Personal Mobility Prototype. It’s a battery powered person mover that weighs about 22 pounds, goes frontwards, backwards, and sideways. They call it Omni-directional. It looks neat for sure, especially with these two pretty and thin girls moving around on these devices.

But I wonder how it would work and what it would look like to have a 200 pound woman or 300 pound man trying to ride one of these things. I believe the U3-X would scream, “One person at a time please!”

We recognize the importance of being patient with others. But let’s not forget we need to be patient with ourselves. Lack of patience with ourselves can create lots of stress and frustration.

And be patient with yourself especially today. Why? Well, Friday the 13th came on Thursday this month!

Too bad about those knees of yours. I thought I'd mention 2 friends, both women, who decided to have both knees done at the same time. Mary was 62 and Marian was 80. It required being put out once rather than twice, and though the first week was uncomfortable, the rest of the recovery was about the same as having one done. Both ladies are happy that they chose to do this, I bet their insurance company was too.

Yeah, I would go for the knee replacement! Down time is not too long, and it's a common surgery these days. You will be glad that you're not in pain anymore!

That is an interesting device, however I'm sure it would be too expensive to mass market and I'm sure it would scream if I got on it!
