Bucksnort

You learn something everyday, and yesterday I learned that the first settlement at Pellville was called Bucksnort! Later this was changed to Pellville (See picture of historical marker).

When I saw this I was reminded that in Tennessee we have a Bucksnort, Tennessee located in Hickman County. I always thought that was an unusual name, and wonder how that name was selected. Perhaps one of the first settlers awoke one morning and saw a big buck deer snorting in the morning mist. Who knows?

Anyway, it was Pellville, Kentucky where my wife was born in 1943 in a little house, that was less than 1 mile from this historical marker. I'm glad that they changed the name to Pellville... I would kinda hate to say my wife came from Bucksnort.

This picture to the left shows Beverly and her two brothers who live in Kentucky. On the left is J.W. and on the right is Raymond. We had a good visit with her brothers and their wives on Labor Day. The Kentucky Bar-B-Q was delicious!

Quote of the Day

A friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway.

Joke of the Day

$ Money $

It can buy a house
But not a home

It can buy a clock
But not time

It can buy you a position
But not respect

It can buy you a bed
But not sleep

It can buy you a book
But not knowledge

It can buy you medicine
But not health

It can buy you blood
But not life

So you see money isn't everything,
and it often causes pain and suffering.
I tell you this because I am your friend,
and as your friend I want to take away your pain and suffering!!!

So send me all your money and I will suffer for you!
Cash only please!!!
