Limited Post Today

Laid Up With a Bad Knee
I have been having some problems with one of my knees. I did something to it last week, and I don’t remember injuring it. It really got going with pain late in the week. I ended up with having fluid drawn off of the knee. Doctor’s instructions have been: stay off of it, keep an ice pack on it, and take pain meds as needed.

I have been doing that. The doctor did not need to tell me to stay off of it. I couldn’t stand on it due to intense pain.

When it first happened I resorted to using a cane. That worked for a while until the pain got worse. When I went to see the doctor, I knew I would not be able to get inside with just a cane. So I turned my pride level down several notches and called them on my cell phone, and asked, “Could you send someone out with a wheelchair so I could get inside for my appointment.” The were glad to do that and that helped a lot!

Then at home I lowered my pride level down some more. The only way I could get around was with a walker. So old Tennessee Granddaddy is sitting on the side his bed this morning, looking at his ice bag, his pee-can, and with his walker parked close by. I never thought it would come to this.

I may be down, but I am not out. Not by a long shot. I’ll be back, but I may be a step or two slower.

Getting old and having ailments is not fun. In fact being young and having ailments is no fun.

Check back and don’t forget my blog. I hope to be back on track by Thursday with my postings.

Mercy sakes, Jim. So sorry to hear about your knee...I can relate...but with my back a few yrs. ago that ended in major surgery, and now with an ailing foot. Listen to the docs and keep on icing. Ice is often, my best friend.
Have a safe recovery and needing some assistance on occasion is o.k. Whatever makes movement easier.
You will soon be back in the boat and wetting a line.

Hi Cuz'
I understand about that "pride level" - I am having a little trouble lowering mine a notch or two while recovering from my surgery. Hang in there - that knee will improve! Both of us had better do what the docs say....and I am working on my pride level! Love ya, your cuz' Karen
