Guess What?
It’s been almost 2 weeks since Beverly and I took a trip to Florida. I told my readers on Oct. 31 that I would be very busy for the next two weeks and would only have 3 posts per week for a time. Yes, I was busy, on vacation.

Second Honeymoon?
Something like a second honeymoon. We were married on June 8 in 1961, and we had a week in a motel in Crystal River, Florida. It was a gift from a family friend who owned Kings Bay Lodge in Crystal River.

Back earlier this year we came upon an 50 year old postcard from the Kings Bay Lodge. It got us to wondering… could that motel still be in business in 2011? No way, I said to myself. But I checked online and found it was going strong. It looked almost identical to the way I remembered it.

So when we were planning our Florida trip we made reservations to spend a couple of nights at the Kings Bay Lodge. It was like going back in time.

Thanksgiving is Around the Corner

Turkey Day in Kingsport
We’ve been looking forward to this day since last year. Last week I sent out the reminder email to all our family, and it’s looking like we’ll have 21 enjoying Thanksgiving dinner together this year. 

It’s so wonderful to have everyone together for a special time. Cousins are getting to know each other, and the family is being drawn closer together.

I’ll be telling you more about the big day as we closer to time.

Unbelievable

Long Lasting Automobile
Did you catch the news a few days ago. A Honda Accord driven by a man in Saco, Maine drove his 1990 Honda over the one million mile on the odometer. It was reported that this was the first time this has ever been documented. He was rewarded with 2012 Honda accord. The owner, Joes LoCicero, says the transmission and engine are original. He says the key to long life is following maintenance schedules, using quality parts and driving safely.

Honda has began to use this in advertising. See below:

Happy Halloween 2011

October 31
I think this could mean
T-R-O-U-B-L-E, because of the 1 and 3 that also make up the unlucky number 13! So even though Friday the 13th does not come until later this month, you better treat today as an especially tricky Halloween. Be extremely careful in everything you do!

Where Is America Headed?

In the Wrong Direction
I saw the results of a poll yesterday where it indicated that more than 75% of Americans are not happy with the direction the U.S. is going. I’m among the 75%. I see and hear about too many things that make me shake my head in wonder… things that don’t make any sense because the U.S. is getting away from its core values. We need to get back to the principles that made the country strong in the beginning.

Also, you might want to watch this video by Bill Reilly where he discusses the America of today—America in Decline.

All is not lost, yet. We can overcome by electing people that support a capitalist America, a small government, a fair tax code, secure borders, and freedom to secure individual goals.
