Squirrel on a Mission

Not Impossible
Watch this squirrel run an obstacle course to get the food. They are smart and agile critters for sure.

I received an email about this video that said,

“This takes place in deepest East Texas near Lovelady. The owner of the yard added each piece of the Rube Goldberg contraption slowly so that when the squirrel learned one section and got the nuts, they added another section. Finally, it ended with what you see on the video! It took place over two-weeks to get to this point. Darn, those East Texas squirrels are something else.”

Now let’s go see what we can accomplish today.

A friend told me about a bumper sticker he saw the other day, it said:
“Pray for President Obama,
Psalms 109:8”
He thought that was nice, but wasn’t sure about the verse mentioned. He went home and looked it up. It said:
Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

Joke of the Day

The Department of Defense briefed the President this morning. They told President Obama that 2 Brazilian soldiers were killed in Iraq.

To everyone's surprise, he collapsed onto his desk, head in his hands, visibly shaken, almost in tears.

Finally, he composed himself and asked,

“Just how many is a Brazilian?”

(Someone said this is not surprising, since he obviously has no understanding of billion or trillion either.)

Gas prices are sky rocketing. It hurts a lot to fill up my SUV. But I found a way that doesn’t hurt me as much. In stead of waiting until the tank is near empty, I just fill it up when it gets close to 1/2 empty. It only cost me half as much to fill up that way. It makes me feel better in just paying $45 instead of $90. (You now know I’m crazy, right?)

Joke of the Day

A man feared his wife wasn't hearing as well as she used to and he thought she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her on the subject, he called the family doctor to discuss the problem. The Doctor told him there is a simple informal test the husband could perform to give the doctor a better idea about her hearing loss.

Here's what you do," said the Doctor, "stand about 40 feet away from her, and say something in a normal conversational speaking tone see if she hears you. If not, go to 30 feet, then 20 feet, and so on until you get a response."

That evening, the wife is in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was in the den. He says to himself, 'I'm about 40 feet away, let's see what happens.' Then in a normal tone he asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?"

No response.

So the husband moves closer to the kitchen, about 30 feet from his wife and repeats, "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Still no response.

Next he moves into the dining room where he is about 20 feet from his wife and asks, "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Again he gets no response.

So, he walks up to the kitchen door, about 10 feet away. "Honey, what's for dinner?"

Again there is no response.

So he walks right up behind her. "Honey, what's for dinner?"

She replied, "Ralph!, for the FIFTH dang time, it's CHICKEN!"

Beauty Comes In All Forms

In Mathematics?
Yes, there is beauty in mathematics. Just watch the following video.

By career I am not a mathematician, but I am close. I am a statistician by training. I fulfilled most of my career at Eastman Chemical Company as a statistician. I don’t particularly like numbers for their symmetry as shown in the above video. I am more interested in numbers as information that can point the way to understanding and learning. Most of my work in industry was related to planning data collection, analyzing data obtained to learn about how systems and processes behave so they can be improved. It was fun!

Joke of the Day

A police officer was investigating an accident on a two-lane, narrow road in which the drivers had hit virtually head-on.

One driver, an extremely elderly woman, kept repeating, "He wouldn't let me have my half of the road!"

After gathering as much information as possible, he angrily approached the other driver, who was examining his own damage. The police officer asked, "That old lady says that you wouldn't let her have her half of the road. Why not?

In exasperation, the man turns from his smashed car and says, "Officer, I would have been HAPPY to give her half of the road --- if she had just let me know WHICH half she wanted!!!!"

Meth Labs

A Serious Problem
As a law enforcement officer I have been approached by several people lately wanting to know how to identify a Meth Lab.

Here is a picture of four Labs.  I think it's pretty obvious which one is the Meth Lab.  I hope this helps.

OK, that is funny. But the use of meth and all those meth labs is not funny at all. It is a serious drug problem in our part of Tennessee. In fact, drugs of all types is getting to be a serious problem in our part of the world.

Joke of the Day

The top toothbrush salesman at the company was asked by his boss how he managed to sell so many brushes.

He replied "It's easy" and he pulled out his card table, setting his display of brushes on top. He told his boss, I lay the brushes out like this, and then I put out some potato chips and dip and a sign that says “Free Chips and Dip” to draw in the customers. He laid out his chips and dip.

His boss said, "That's a very innovative approach" and took one of the chips, dipped it, and stuck it in his mouth. "Yuck, this tastes terrible, it tastes like raw sewage!" his boss yelled.

The salesman replied "IT IS! Want to buy a toothbrush?"

(When I was a kid I just loved to tell the above joke. You can really drag it out by describing the display, etc.)

Glass, Amazing Glass!

Future for Glass
The following video was on Kim Komado’s web site the other day. In case you did not see it, I wanted to give you the opportunity to see something amazing. The title is “A Day Made of Glass”, and it gives you a graphic description of Corning’s vision for the future. It involves specialty glass. Enjoy…

I just wonder what it would cost to have that technology in your home?

Joke of the Day

A Repeat today… just in case you did not see it earlier:

Our teacher asked us what our favorite animal was, and I said, "Fried chicken."

She said I wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right, because everyone else in the class laughed.

My parents told me to always be truthful and honest, and I am. Fried chicken is my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they love animals very much.

I do, too. Especially chicken, pork and beef. Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal's office. I told him what happened, and he laughed, too. Then he told me not to do it again.

The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, just like she'd asked the other children. So I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken.

She sent me back to the principal's office again. He laughed, and told me not to do it again.

I don't understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn't like it when I am.

Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we admire most.

I told her, "Colonel Sanders." Guess where I am now...

Controversial?

The Forgotten Man
ForgottenManThe painting by Jon McNaughton… “Against the background of a darkening sky, all of the past Presidents of the United States gather before the White House, as if to commemorate some great event. In the left hand corner of the painting sits a man. That man, with his head bowed appears distraught and hopeless as he contemplates his future. Some of the past Presidents try to console him while looking in the direction of the modern Presidents as if to say, "What have you done?" Many of these modern Presidents, seemingly oblivious to anything other than themselves, appear to be congratulating each other on their great accomplishments. In front of the man, paper trash is blowing in the wind. Crumpled dollar bills, legislative documents, and, like a whisper—the U.S. Constitution beneath the foot of Barack Obama.” (quoted from comments on YouTube)

The video…

Joke of the Day

While driving along the back roads of a small town in Tennessee, two novice truckers came to an overpass with a sign that read CLEARANCE 11'3".

They got out and measured their rig, which was 12'4" high...

"What do you think?" one asked the other.

The driver looked around carefully, then shifted into first. "Not a cop in sight. Let's take a chance!"

(I like the above joke. ~TG)

Car of the Future?

So They Say
It is quite an unusual automobile that requires no gasoline or no batteries for power. It has a hydrogen power plant that powers an electric motor. Watch this video…

But
Will they make one that will pull my boat trailer? Well, I’ll probably be gone by then and won’t have to worry about. This kind of technology moves very slow.

I just wish the USA could become energy independent. We could if we would just drill and drill. So drilling for more oil will take care of the short term until we can develop the cars of the future. Then we stop drilling.

Wow! Spring is On the Way!
This is the first day of March. Just think, before this month ends, God willing, I will be able to go fishing!

Tennessee Granddaddy Says:
The USA needs a good short term and long term plan to deal with our energy needs. You would think the oil crisis in the 1970s would have taught our politicians something. Shame on you both democrats and republicans!

Joke of the Day

Two golfers met at the club. "I heard about your terrible tragedy last week," said one.

"Yes," said the other sadly, sipping his drink. "I was playing a two-some with Winthrop, and he dropped dead on the ninth hole."

"I understand you carried him all the way back to the clubhouse too," the first man said sympathetically. "That must have been very difficult, considering Winthrop weighed over two hundred and fifty pounds."

"The carrying wasn't that hard. It was putting him down at every stroke, then picking him up again that wore me out."
