Our Anniversary

Forty-Seven Years Today
I don't usually post on Sunday, but today is special. Beverly and I have been married for 47 years today. Here's a picture of us taken on Mother's Day of this year.

I'm so thankful that she married me back in 1961. She is the most wonderful wife a man could have. She's my wife, my love, my sweetheart, and my best friend. I love her dearly and hope we'll have many more years together.

Here are some of the reasons I love my wife...
  • You love God and put Him first in your life.
  • You are like the virtuous woman in Proverbs.
  • You love the Truth.
  • You supported me in my career.
  • You love me with my imperfections.
  • You gave me a reason to love.
  • You supported me when the going was tough.
  • You made life on earth worth living.
  • You are a beautiful and caring person.
  • You are organized and a good planner.
  • You put others before self.
  • You treat the workers like you would treat Jesus.
  • You teach others to be kind and love.
  • You have a good and true testimony.
  • You have a strong work ethic.
  • You earned a BS Degree with highest honors.
  • You enjoyed our Mexico life.
  • You worked hard and learned Spanish.
  • Your impact on our Mexican friends.
  • Your love for our children.
  • You are a wonderful mother, who truly cares for the well being of our children.
  • You keep up with all those birthdays, and never forget to send a greeting to our friends.
  • You are a grandmother who truly loves children.
  • You have not forgotten how to play with children.
  • Your wonderful sense of humor and know how to take a joke (how else could you have made it with me all these years).
  • Your tolerance with my hobbies: fishing, computers, or whatever it is this week.
  • You are diligent in writing letters to our friends and the workers.
  • You are an excellent cook, and your can do wonders in your organized kitchen.
  • You are unselfish, and think of the needs of others.
  • You have excellent taste when it comes to clothes, household furnishings, etc.
  • You extremely intelligent, as well as beautiful.
  • You make retirement a wonderful experience.
  • You compliment me on things I have done well.
  • You always play to win, but you are a good winner and a good loser.
  • You support me when I fail. You give me hope and courage to always try again.
  • Your kisses are so sweet.
  • You do so many big and little things for me.
  • Your love is always unmistakable because of your actions.
  • You are my wife, partner, friend and sweetheart.

Joke of the Day
This joke was told to me just a few days ago by my Dad.

He said they did a study to determine why men lived longer than women. He said the study uncovered the facts. The men really DID NOT live longer, It only seemed longer!

Fishing

Taking 2 Boys Fishing
Yesterday afternoon I had lots of fun taking my grandson, Zachary, fishing out on Boone Lake. We also had with us Doug Salyer (one of my fishing buddies) and Doug's grandson, Cole. Kevin, my son was also along for the outing to catch some bluegill.

What a perfect way to celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week: June 1-8, 2008.

Cole and Zachary used night crawlers and crickets on number 6 hooks with a small split shot. The boys caught them both with and without small floats. The boys ended up with eleven bluegill. We had a great time, but it was so hot. We were thankful for the shade provided by the Bimini top on my pontoon boat. The picture shows Zachary with the stringer. (After taking the picture we released the fish back into the clear waters of the lake.)

Joke of the Day
A man was driving home one evening and realized that it was his daughter's birthday and he hadn't bought her a present. He drove to the mall and ran to the toy store and he asked the store manager "How much is that new Barbie in the window?"

The Manager replied, "Which one? We have, 'Barbie goes to the gym' for $19.95 ...

'Barbie goes to the Ball' for $19.95 ...

'Barbie goes shopping' for $19.95 ...

'Barbie goes to the beach' for $19.95...

'Barbie goes to the Nightclub' for $19.95 ...

and 'Divorced Barbie' for $375.00."

"Why is the 'Divorced Barbie' $375.00, when all the others are $19.95?" Dad asked surprised.

"Divorced Barbie comes with Ken's car, Ken's House, Ken's boat, Ken's dog, Ken's cat and Ken's furniture."

Danger

Danger All Around
The following video is interesting and I thought you might enjoy watching it. Chief Patrick Reynolds describes some of the dangerous aspects of the flight deck of an aircraft carrier.

What ever you do today, Be Safe!

A good thought: The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

Joke of the Day
After she woke up, a woman told her husband, "I just dreamed that you gave me a pearl necklace for my birthday. What do you think it means?"

"You'll know tonight." he said.

That evening, the man came home with a small package and gave it to his wife. Delighted, she opened it to find a book entitled, "The Meaning of Dreams."

(Note: The man suffered minor cuts, bruises, and abrasions. He was released from the hospital the following day.)

Some Things

To Think About....
  • Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else.
  • If you lend someone $20 and you never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • There are two theories for arguing with your wife. Neither one works.
  • Never, under any circumstances, take a laxative and sleeping pill the same night.
  • There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness".
  • Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
  • Remember, half the people you know are below average.
  • A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.
  • Change is inevitable, except from vending machines.
  • Plan to be spontaneous tomorrow.
  • Always try to be modest, and be proud of it.
  • If you think nobody cares... then try missing a couple of payments.
  • Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.
  • Everyone has a photographic memory... but some don't have any film.
  • Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what happened.
~~~
Whatever you are... be a good one.
Joke of the Day
There were three guys talking in the pub. Two of them are talking about the amount of control they have over their wives, while the third remains quiet.
After a while one of the first two turns to the third and says, "Well, what about you, what sort of control do you have over your wife?"
The third fellow says "I'll tell you. Just the other night my wife came to me on her hands and knees."
The first two guys were amazed. "What happened then?" they asked.
"She said, 'get out from under the bed and fight like a man'."
Jade Left Yesterday
Jade's Gone
Here we are at the airport with Jade in our last little while to be together.
We watched while she checked in at the security counter.
We saw her going through security.
Then we went up to the observation deck and saw her plane. When they started boarding, we saw her come out of Gate 5 on to the Tarmac and walk to the airplane.
Out last glimpse of Jade was when she got on the airplane.
We waited until the plane was airborne and then came home. The house is a little quieter tonight, a little emptier tonight, and a little sad tonight... No... a whole lot sad!
Bye Bye Jade... We miss you and we hope to see you again someday!
Joke of the Day
Two bachelors were talking about their respective choice of life partner.
One friend said,"It is generally said that people with opposite characteristics make the happiest marriages. What is your opinion?"
The friend replied, "Yes, they are right. That is why I am looking for a girl with a money!"
Your First Kiss
Jade Leaves Today
Today is the day Jade leaves East Tennessee and her Tennessee Nana & Papa. She flies out this afternoon for California where she will have a visit with an uncle. Then in a few days she will fly back to Vietnam for the summer.
We're sad, and wondering when and where we will see her again. It may be a long while. Even so, she will be close by in our thoughts and in our hearts.
First Kiss
Do you remember your first kiss? I think this little guy will remember his for a long time.
In the following YouTube video, some girls are going to test a new lip balm product. They end up kissing a monkey, thinking it is a male model. This is funny.
Joke of the Day
It was their fifth anniversary, and Al and Alice had just returned from an evening out.
Alice was feeling romantic. "Will you love me when my hair has turned to silver?" she crooned.
"Why not?" Al grunted. "Didn't I love you through four other shades?"
Let's Take a Walk
Good Neighbors
Last night we were invited next door to have dinner with our neighbors. Helen fixed a wonderful meal and Kenneth grilled some delicious hamburgers. They wanted to say bye to Jade, who will be leaving Tennessee tomorrow. Helen and Kenneth kept Jade when we were out of town and have been our good friends and neighbors for over 40 years. Kenneth is a substitute teacher and gave Jade many a ride to school. We appreciate them so much. Here's a picture of Jade with them that I took last evening.
A Walk You'll Remember
Take a walk on the El camino del Rey. The trail was built in 1901. It is very dangerous! Check it out below:
Joke of the Day
Two little boys are in a hospital and are lying next to each other. The first boy leans over and asks, “What are you in here for?”
The second replies, “I’m in here to get my tonsils out and I’m a little nervous.”
The first boy says, “You’ve got nothing to worry about. I had that done to me once. They put you to sleep and when you wake up they give you lots of jello and ice cream. It’s a piece of cake!”
The second boy then asks, “What are you in here for?”
The first boy replies, “Well, I’m here for a circumcision.” The second says, “Whoa! I had that done when I was born. I couldn’t walk for a year!!!”
